Nagi, Revisted

February is going by soooo fast! My birthday came and went just like that!  On the day itself, we had a simple dinner and cakes (yes, plural) at home.

No need for any fancy or elaborate celebration. I prefer quiet birthdays…which means eating out with family and friends. We headed to Nagi again for a bowl full of ramen. We each had a Black King and chose the large and hard noodles.

We also ordered gyoza. They were crispy and tasty laid on top of a small bed of bean sprouts. It’s a good accompaniment to the 2 slice of meat bowl of ramen.

Since it’s my birthday, I had the privilege of ordering the tabehodai noodles. For an additional 100yen, you can eat as much thin noodles as you want. The trick is to save the soup. There’s no photo of how I pigged out though! But trust me, it was lip smacking good!

Happy birthday to me! Stay awesome! đŸ˜‰

Eat Diner

An impromptu meet up with a couple of friends found us at Shin Qs/Hikarie, Shibuya. The restaurants in this mall are at the 6th to 8th floor and some little cafes and cake shops at B3 and 4th floor.  We were just interested in snacks as we all just had lunch. We couldn’t decide where to go so we went around first. We are, fortunately, marketing susceptible people– we were easily sold by a huge poster of burrito being advertised at the store front of Eat Diner.

We ordered the carnitas burrito

The burrito had beans, avocado, lettuce, tomato and meat. Oh, the meat! It was melt in your mouth soft. It was really good.  The order came with chips, too!

There were other burrito flavors, sandwiches and pastas. Cocktails and non alcoholic drinks are also available.

We ordered a strawberry shake expecting a regular smoothie of ice cream and strawberry. But this one came with bits and pieces of strawberry jelly which made it refreshingly surprising.

The diner is nice and big– great for sitting and chatting while eating even with 2 kids with us.

If you find yourself in ShinQs or Hikarie, it’s a good restaurant to dine in!

Shakey’s Pizza Parlor

My mommy friends and I decided December last year that a visit to Shakey’s lunch buffet will be our first destination for a MDO (mommies’ day out).  So off we went to Kichijoji’s branch and made sure we were there early (opens at 11am) before the crowd arrives.

image

The lunch buffet selection includes Pizzas, Pastas, Curry Rice, Salad and drinks. The prices are not too expensive given that a pasta dish elsewhere is about 1,000 yen already.

Even with Little A in tow, I was able to eat a looootttt! They have 3 kinds of pizzas:  original flavored pizzas, healthy pizza and dessert pizzas. Six different types of pastas and beef curry rice.

I did say I ate a lot, didn’t I?

The lines to the buffet spread were short when we were there for the first hour. Soon after though, there were maybe a dozen or so people lining up to get food. But, nothing to worry about as they continually place new pizzas and pastas so you always get newly baked ones.

Shakey’s have a lot of branches. Find one near you.

Snow Day

It’s a snow day in Tokyo! It’s Little A’s first!

I got up at 6am to check what’s going on outside and saw this:

I got excited but controlled myself since it’s too early to wake Little A and the snow hasn’t accumulated enough to build a snowman. I know…Christmas is over…but snowmen are for all occasions, right? And, I really do want to build a snowman! The mama is more excited than the baby!

At 9ish:

And by 10ish, we did this

Unfortunately,  we didn’t get to finish Olaf because his face fell, it was too cold and my hands were close to being…frozen…so I decided to….let it go…yes, yes, all puns intended!

Have a fun winter wonderland! A snow angel to keep you company.
