Pamana

Pamana (inheritance in Tagalog) is a great Filipino restaurant in Tagaytay, Cavite that serve homecooked food. We always bring foreign guests here for good food and even better ambiance. A view of the Taal Lake can be seen from the restaurant’s veranda.

We ordered all our favorite dishes

ImageBinagoongan Rice.  Rice with shrimp paste, pickled mangoes and tomato salsa

Image

Kare Kare. Pig hocks in peanut sauce with vegetables.

Image

Bulalao. Soup from beef shanks and marrow bones with loads of fats! Heart-stopping!

Image

Adobo Flakes

Adobo is a popular Filipino kind of stew. You can use all kinds of meats. There surely would be vinegar, soy sauce and sugar.  I assume they first cook the meat, flake the meat and fry them up!

Image

Taba ng Talangka Rice. One of my favorite dishes made of our crab roe!

Image

Crispy Pata. Pig knuckles, deep fried.

Image

Laing. A spicy dish from taro leaves cooked with coconut milk

Image

Fried Tawilis (fish)

Image

Adobong Pusit (squid)

We had to have desserts, of course! The waiter was mixing the hot chocolate (tablea) drink using a “batirol”.

Image

Traditional Ensaymada. A local brioche that is just as good as the French ones. Softer than their Spanish counterparts.

Image

Turon with Ube Ice Cream. Plantain with jackfruit wrapped in spring roll wrapper then deep fried in caramelized sugar. Topped with  purple yam ice cream.

Image

Puto Bumbong. Made with purple yam and sticky rice topped with edam cheese!

Looking at the photos made me hungry (and miss home!)
